Ardex P82 Epoxy Primer

$26.99 $40.22
Description ARDEX P82 Epoxy Primer is a two-component water-based epoxy synthetic dispersion primer and bonding bridge. It is non-flammable and non-corrosive. ARDEX P82 Epoxy Primer forms a priming/bonding layer on most known substrates, especially smooth or dense surfaces. For interior use only and in dry or intermittently damp locations. Use on floors which are dry and have an effective ARDEX damp proof membrane, such as ARDEX DPM 1 C and ARDEX DPM 1 C R. ARDEX P82 Epoxy Primer can be used as a primer and bonding bridge prior to the application of the ARDEX range of cement-based tiling and flooring products. Surface Preparation: Surfaces must be firm, sound, and free from dust, dirt, water-soluble materials, excess adhesive residues, and other barriers to adhesion. Polish, wax, grease, etc., should be removed using degreaser prior to suitable preparation using mechanised equipment. Where ARDEX P82 Epoxy Primer will be used in conjunction with moisture-sensitive floorings, the substrate must be dry, i.e., have a Relative Humidity of no greater than 75% and where appropriate be protected by a functioning damp proof membrane, such as ARDEX DPM 1 C or ARDEX DPM 1 C R. Use ARDEX P82 Epoxy Primer on terrazzo, glazed ceramics, quarry tiles, and porcelain. Ensure all surfaces to be primed are clean and free from surface curing agents, sealants, wax, grease, or other barriers to adhesion. ARDEX P82 Epoxy Primer can also be used to prime hard and prepared flooring-grade asphalt, rigid metal, hard and sound paint coatings, ARDEX DPMs, as well as traces of sound adhesive residues on dense impervious surfaces. Contact the ARDEX Technical Support Team at Haverhill for further specific information. ARDEX P82 Epoxy Primer is also suitable for priming wood and wood-based panels prior to fixing ceramic tiles and floors using the appropriate ARDEX cement-based adhesive. Mixing: ARDEX P82 Epoxy Primer consists of two liquid components – one red, one white – which must be mixed in the ratio 1:1 by weight or volume to produce an evenly coloured pink liquid. The two components are an epoxy resin and an epoxy hardener. These are supplied in the exact proportions, so the entirety of each component must be fully mixed together. Pour the required amount of Part A (red) into a suitably sized clean container, add an equal volume of Part B (white), and mix together with a slow-speed electric drill and a suitable mixing paddle until a uniform pink colour is achieved. Some of the mixed material should be reintroduced back into both containers to activate any residue and then poured back into the mixing vessel and re-mixed. Mixing in this way ensures product consistency and makes disposal easier, in accordance with local environmental regulations. It is recommended that a mixing paddle is used for efficient mixing and that the bottom corners of the buckets are checked with a trowel for any unmixed material before application. The mixed primer has a working time of not more than 1 hour, after which time any unused mixed primer must be discarded safely. Application: Surfaces should be suitably prepared and clean prior to the application of the mixed primer. ARDEX P82 Epoxy Primer must be applied in a thin even coat using a foam or short pile paint roller or paint brush, taking care to prevent the formation of puddles. Allow the applied primer to become dry to a clear, tacky film – usually 3 to 6 hours, depending on substrate temperature and ventilation. If in doubt, leave overnight. Once dried, the primed surface is ready for overlaying; however, if left for more than 4 days or if the film has lost its tackiness, a repeat application of ARDEX P82 Epoxy Primer will be necessary. Note: Suitable protective equipment should be worn such as goggles and gloves during mixing and application. See the precautions section below. The thickness of smoothing compound applied to ARDEX P82 Epoxy Primer should be restricted to 6mm in depth. Packaging: 6kg unit consisting of 3kg of each component in plastic containers, or a 2kg unit consisting of 1kg plastic containers of each component. Store in a cool dry place. Protect from frost. Coverage: 5 to 10m² per kg of mixed primer, depending on the surface to be primed and the method of application, i.e., 10 to 20m² per 2kg unit and 30 to 60m² per 6kg unit. Do not exceed the maximum coverage of 20m² per 2kg unit and 60m² per 6kg unit, i.e., 10m² per kg of mixed material, as the primer must have sufficient thickness to ensure a continuous even film is formed across the entire primed surface. It is recommended that the floor areas are measured out into 60m² areas and the 6kg units of ARDEX P82 Epoxy Primer are evenly spread over this floor area to help ensure that the coverage does not exceed 10m² per kg of mixed product.
