Description BAL Waterproof 1C Matting is to be used as part of a waterproofing system with BAL WATERPROOF 1C where an EAD certified system is required. It is comprised of a polyester fleece that is white in colour and measures 1 metre by 1 metre square. Application: Pipework: BAL Waterproof 1C Matting should be applied into freshly applied BAL WATERPROOF 1C coating around pipework. A square section of matting should be cut approximately 150mm wider than the diameter of each pipe. Apply the matting around the pipework by: Using a suitable brush, roller or trowel, apply BAL WATERPROOF 1C at a minimum wet thickness of 1.0mm (0.8mm dry thickness) to the area the matting will cover and the first few centimetres of where the pipe penetrates. Then apply the prepared collar matting pieces by immediately pulling it over the pipe, ensuring it is a tight fit. Push the matting into the coating so that the coating penetrates evenly through the matting and the flaps are pressed into BAL WATERPROOF 1C around the sides of the pipe. Immediately apply a second coat of BAL WATERPROOF 1C at a minimum wet thickness of 1.0mm (0.8mm dry thickness) over all the collar matting. Flooring: The floor area should be reinforced with BAL Waterproof 1C Matting. If one piece is not large enough, an additional sheet should be used with 50mm overlaps at any joints. Circular holes of the same size of any pipes emerging from the floor should be cut into the matting with scissors. Note: the matting should be cut so that it is applied right up to the edge of the floor and is placed over the previously applied tape. Apply BAL WATERPROOF 1C to the floor at a wet film thickness of 1.0mm (0.8mm dry thickness), ensuring that the applied coating also covers the TAPE that was previously applied to the floor. Bed the matting into the coating using a steel float to ensure that the coating penetrates evenly through the matting. Ensure that there are no wrinkles in the matting. It is critical that the wet coating is applied onto the surface of the tape, and that sufficient force is then used to press the coating through the matting. This will ensure that the coating has penetrated thought both the tape and matting. Please refer to the NHBC install guide for BAL WATERPROOF 1C for full details.
