Description Tile Backer Board Sealing Tape is a self-adhesive, flexible butyl rubber tape for waterproofing the joints between Tile Backer Board panels, corners, floor and wall connections. It is essential for waterproofing the joints in Tile Backer board installations prior to tiling, in areas subject to damp or wet conditions such as showers, bathrooms, etc. Tile Backer Board Sealing Tape is comprised of a self adhesive butyl rubber with a fleece backing. The fleece backing is to aid adhesion to tile adhesive. The self adhesive butyl rubber adheres to various types of nonabsorbent substrates such as aluminium, copper, steel, plastic, bitumen waterproofing membranes, ceramic and to absorbent substrates such as concrete, masonry, aerated concrete, fibre reinforced cement and render. It is immediately resistant to water and heavy rain and has good tear strength. It is compatible with our entire range of cement-coated polystyrene foam tile backer boards – Standard Tile Backer Board Panels, JACKOBOARD Plano, wedi Tile Backer Board, Marmox Multiboard Tile Backer Board and Schluter KERDI BOARD. Tile Backer Board Sealing Tape measures 100mm wide and is available in rolls of 5, 10 and 20 metres long. It is very easy to use and install and features a split paper backing to ease application in corners. Once the tape has been applied we recommend applying firm pressure via a roller or float over the top of the tape to ensure it is securely adhered to the tile backer board prior to tiling. Some application examples: Waterproofing corners and fillets between floors and walls on terraces, balconies and in bathrooms. Sealing different types of material (bitumen membranes, metal, ceramic and cementitious screeds). Sealing small, hard-to-reach fillets such as those between window and door fittings, ledges and substrates. Recommendations: Do not use on damp substrates. Do not use to seal areas subjected to water under pressure. Use in combination with a liquid waterproofing membrane from our range. If applied on ceramic, treat the surface with a coat of grip primer before applying. When applying the product on bitumen membranes, treat surfaces beforehand with a coat of suitable grip primer. Apply at a temperature between 5°C and 30°C. Application: Substrate preparation: Surfaces on which Tile Backer Board Sealing Tape is to be applied must be well-cured, sound, clean and dry and must be free of all traces of oil, grease, cement laitance and any other product or substance that could prevent the adhesive tape from adhering fully. Tile Backer Board Sealing Tape may be applied on concrete, solid and perforated bricks and concrete blocks as long as they have no sharp corners or rough edges. If Tile Backer Board Sealing Tape needs to be applied on a bitumen membranes, it must be perfectly clean first and treated with a coat of a suitable primer. Apply the tape when the primer is touch dry. Application of the product: To apply Tile Backer Board Sealing Tape, unroll and place it on a solid base, then trim to the length required with a cutter. Place the tape at the start of the fillet to be waterproofed and partially remove one of the two sides of the protective film. Press down on the tape from the centre towards the edges to help it adhere and to prevent creases forming and air bubbles remaining under the tape. Remove the remaining protective film to complete application of the strip of the tape. Joints between strips of tape must overlap by at least 5 cm. Once all the tape has been applied, go over the entire surface with a rubber roller to make sure it is well adhered. To finish, waterproof the substrate with a product from our range of liquid waterproofing membranes.
