Ideal Uses for UltraFloor Feather IT Finishing Compound: UltraFloor Feather IT Finishing Compound is designed for improving subfloor finishes before installing: Resilient floor coverings (sheet and tile) Textiles Timber flooring Ceramic, porcelain, and mosaic tiles Its ultra-fine particle formulation allows application from 3mm down to a true feather edge. UltraFloor Feather IT Finishing Compound is perfect for: Filling in gouges or damage from premature trafficking (e.g. footprints) Smoothing over trowel marks and ridges Isolated patch repairs Feather finishing at door thresholds Covering screw heads and joints in plywood installations Suitable Substrates: Sand/Cement Screeds: Must be strong, dry, and clean. Apply using a steel trowel with firm compression. Ideal for consolidating day joints. Tamped or Pan Floated Concrete: Remove friable material and contaminants before applying. Power Floated Concrete: Not recommended directly. Apply a 3mm smoothing underlayment first. Plywood: Flooring-grade, minimum 6mm, sealed on the underside. Great for covering screw heads and smoothing board joints. Existing Smoothing Compounds: Clean, sand and dust-free. Mechanically remove adhesive residues unless floor coverings are loose-laid in domestic use. Newly Laid Smoothing Compounds: Ensure proper cure. Lightly sand, dust-free surface is needed. Terrazzo / Granolithic / Ceramic Tiles: For bonded systems, use a 3mm underlayment. For loose lay, use UltraFloor Feather IT Finishing Compound to smooth grout lines. Not suitable for calcium sulphate/anhydrite/hemihydrate screeds. Subfloor Preparation: All subfloors must be dry, sound, and protected from rising moisture via a damp proof membrane (DPM). Moisture levels should be ≤75% RH in accordance with BS 8203. UltraFloor Feather IT Finishing Compound is not to be used as a smoothing compound over surface DPMs. In domestic settings with non-moisture-sensitive, firmly bonded adhesive residues, UltraFloor Feather IT Finishing Compound may be applied directly where floor coverings will be loose laid. Mixing & Application: Mix with clean cold water at a 2:1 powder-to-water volume ratio Stir until lump-free and non-slump (do not make free-flowing) Working time: approx. 15 minutes Apply using a steel trowel to desired depth (typically 1mm or less, max 3mm) Do not use a spiked roller Sanding and priming are not required once cured UltraFloor Feather IT Finishing Compound can be layered for areas requiring over 3mm thickness in small patches.
