Description Mapei MapePave Brush in Grout is a one-component, ready-to-use, polybutadiene-based drainage mortar for grouting paved floors with joints from 5mm to 30mm in width. It is for grouting all types of external paved floors (porcelain slabs, cement-based composites, porphyry slabs and blocks, etc.) subject to light traffic (vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes). Mapei MapePave Brush in Grout can be used to create a drainage grouting mortar for use on paved surfaces subject to low intensity stresses, such as: steps, pavements and terraces laid directly on the ground for domestic use. courtyards and pedestrian entrances, including vehicle entrances, subject to light traffic (vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes). residential drives and pavements subject to pedestrian traffic. Mapei MapePave Brush in Grout is supplied in vacuum packed 15kg tubs, and is available in 4 colours: Neutral, Grey, Light Grey, and Basalt. Mapei MapePave Brush In Grout forms a very strong bond with the edges of the slabs and hardens quickly, to develop excellent drainage properties. The characteristics of Mapei MapePave Brush in Grout make the grouted joints particularly resistant to high pressure hydro-cleaning and de-icing salts. Thanks to its permeability, rainwater penetrates quickly into the substrate without leaving puddles on the surface. Mapei MapePave Brush In Grout is resistant to freeze/thaw cycles and adverse weather conditions making it suitable for external applications, thanks to its special properties, joints filled using Mapei MapePave Brush in Grout are resistant to the formation of weeds, moss and washout, making maintenance easier and more cost effective compared with conventional grout. Recommendations: Do not lay the product if it is about to rain or if it will be continuously exposed to sunlight, unless some form of protection is employed. Do not apply the product if the temperature is lower than 5°C or higher than 30°C. Do not use Mapei MapePave Brush in Grout, to grout special paved drainage floors, the product may reduce the permeability of the slabs. Do not mix Mapei MapePave Brush in Grout with solvents or with other products. After applying the mortar, stains may appear on the surface of the slabs or their colour may be altered, however these effects will be worn away with the use and due to the action of adverse weather conditions. Application: Preparation of the substrate: The substrate on which the floor is to be laid must be of the drainage type, and suitable to withstand the loads foreseen. The substrate must be solid enough to ensure that permanent loads or pools of water do not cause it to be subside. The floor must be laid according to careful laying techniques, so that the tile joints are not damaged once they have been completed. Pre-wet the surface and keep it moist during the install. Surfaces with high levels of porosity or are warm will require more water or in certain applications require constant wetting, to prevent the product from setting on the surface too quickly. Preparation for the joints: The joints must be carefully cleaned and raked out before grouting. They must be at least 5mm wide and 20mm deep. If the joints are wider than 15mm, they must be at least twice as deep, otherwise the Mapei MapePave Brush In Grout mix may not penetrate down through the entire thickness and leave voids. After freeze-thaw cycles, water which remains in these voids may cause fracture of the joints. If the product is used to repair the grout of an old slab, the joints must be emptied beforehand, and the surfaces and edges must be carefully cleaned. Applying the product: Mapei MapePave Brush In Grout is ready-to-use. After opening the package, remove the protective film and pour the mix on the surface to be grouted. Apply Mapei MapePave Brush in Grout on the surface of the slabs and in the joints using a broom or rubber squeegee, making sure that the joints are completely filled. If the applied paving has been fully bonded and is not of a drainage construction, the joints should be compacted using a mortar pointing tool until the joint is filled to the required level (water can be applied during this process to aid in the application of the Mapei MapePave Brush in Grout). If the joints are narrow, the grout may fall out and will have to be applied again. Within 25 minutes of applying Mapei MapePave Brush in Grout, clean any product residue from the surface of the slabs with a broom. The applied product should finished just below the top of the applied paving Protect the joints from rain and dust for at least 24 hours after grouting. After 7 days, and in all cases once the product has hardened, clean the grouted surface with high pressure water jets. Set to light foot traffic: The grouted surface may be stepped on after 24 hours (at 23°C and 50% relative humidity). These times may vary according to the ambient temperature. Ready for use: The surfaces may be put into full service after 7 days (at 23°C and 50% relative humidity). Finished colour: While every effort is made to produce consistency between batches, due to the natural filler within the product, colour and shade variations are possible. To obtain the best results use tubs all from the same batch if more than one tub is required to complete an area. Consumption: The consumption depends on the width of the joints and the size of the slabs eg. where 600 x 600 x 20mm slabs are installed with a 5mm joint a 15kg drum of this product will cover approximately 25m². Technical Data: Consistency: loose granular mortar Colour: Neutral, Light Grey, Grey & Basalt Density (g/cm ): 1.6 Storage: 24 months in its original closed containers Application time: Approx. 25 minutes Recommended application temperature range: from 5 C to 30 C Set to light foot traffic: 24 hours Ready for use: 7 days Product Datasheet Click here to view this product on the manufacturers website.
