Bostik All Weather Jointing Compound

$32.08 $59.67
Description Bostik All Weather Jointing Compound is an easy to apply, self hardening jointing compound for patios and paths. Its ready to use, quick and easy to apply, even in the rain. Available in 3 colours: Natural, Grey and Basalt. Supplied in 15kg tubs. Bostik All Weather Jointing Compound is suitable for paving joints from 5mm to 30mm wide. Once cured, it forms a solid joint that will resist weed growth and provide an attractive finish to complement the paving. A blend of polymers and sand bind together on contact with air to form a joint that does not crack or shrink. Bostik All Weather Jointing Compound is suitable for most types of domestic paving and can be used on paths and patios of natural stone, concrete, slate, clay, terracotta, granite slabs and ceramic tiles. It is suitable for joints 5mm to 30mm in width and a minimum depth of 25mm. It is water permeable allowing the paving to drain and once cured, is unaffected by salt and freezing conditions. Any remaining compound can be stored for future jobs, reducing waste. Coverage: Joint width: 5mm 10mm 15mm 20mm 25mm 30mm 250mm x 250mm Pavers: 9.8m² 5.1m² 3.5m² 2.7m² 2.2m² 1.9m² 450mm x 450mm Pavers: 17.4m² 8.8m² 6.0m² 4.6m² 3.7m² 3.2m² 600mm x 600mm Pavers: 23.0m² 11.7m² 7.9m² 6.0m² 4.9m² 4.1m² Application: Preparation: Prepare the foundation according to the expected loads. Loads must not cause the paving to loosen or sink. Paving must be sound, level and properly laid on a good mortar bed. The mortar bed must be fully cured, dry and permeable before laying paving. If the base is not permeable, then the joints may eventually fail. When paving is laid on a solid mortar bed, the mortar bed must be laid to fall (at least 2%) so that water will drain away from the paving and joints. If the base is constantly wet, any compound in contact with the base will not cure, which could cause joints to fail. Only use Bostik All Weather Jointing Compound on free draining sites. If used on sites that are permanently or mostly wet, the jointing compound will not cure. Good drainage is key as Bostik All Weather Jointing Compound cures when exposed to air and stops curing when wet. Ensure joints and paving are free from grease, oil, dirt and loose materials. Rinse with water to ensure they are completely clean. Joints must have a minimum width of 5mm and a minimum depth of 25mm. If the paving is chamfered, ensure a minimum depth of 25mm for the main body of the paving and a minimum width of 5mm at the base and throughout the joints. Joints must not be tapered or ‘V’ shaped. Compact well, leaving at least 25mm to be filled with Bostik All Weather Jointing Compound. If paving is laid on a water permeable mortar bed, the minimum joint depth can be reduced to 20mm. Bostik All Weather Jointing Compound can be applied in most weather conditions. However, lower temperatures and/or wet weather will extend curing times. Bostik All Weather Jointing Compound is not suitable for block paving, driveways, or for areas subject to continuous water immersion. Application: NOTE: The lid colour acts as a guide only. The Bostik All Weather Jointing Compound colour can be seen through the clear bag within the tub. The compound colour does not change once cured. Always use product from the same batch number when completing jobs requiring more than one tub. For exterior use only in well-ventilated areas. The unique odour will disappear as Bostik All Weather Jointing Compound fully hardens. Animals and children must be kept away from the treatment area during application and until the area is completely dry and free of any residual compound. Do not contaminate ponds or waterways with the compound. Using a hose, completely soak the joints and paving with water. Allow water to drain away before applying the compound, ensuring it is not collecting and standing in the joints. Ensure paving remains wet throughout the application process as this reduces the risk of staining, particularly on porous and natural paving. Cut open the bag and pour enough compound onto the paving to cover an area of approximately 2 to 3m². Once open, use the compound within 30 minutes. Any material remaining in the bucket can be stored for up to one month if it is completely covered with water. Do not store material previously tipped out of the bag, as this will have started curing. Do not allow the paving to dry with compound on the surface, or leave compound in piles on paving, as it may stain and cure. Do not break up or use any small, set lumps. Using a soft brush or squeegee, work the Bostik All Weather Jointing Compound into the joints ensuring they are evenly filled. Fully compact the compound in the joints with a pointing tool or round piece of wood of the appropriate width. Top up compacted joints with further compound and compact again, ensuring the joints are completely filled, but slightly below the surface of the paving. Failure to do this will result in poor product strength. Clean the soles of footwear used when applying the compound, as walking across dry or drying paving without cleaning the soles could leave footmarks. Remove surplus compound by brushing diagonally across the joints with a soft brush. Chamfered edges on slabs must be exposed, as sufficient adhesion is not guaranteed. Smooth the surface of Bostik All Weather Jointing Compound with a pointing tool, ensuring a flat and smooth surface. Compound left exposed for more than 30 minutes without compacting should not be used, as if this was compacted the strength would be poor. Heavy rain before the compound has cured may disturb the surface, refinish again as above. Rain before full product cure can also temporarily soften the compound. Curing will start again once it is dry. If it is raining, protecting the paving for at least 24 hours will reduce the curing time. Some darkening of the paving may occur. This will look similar to the appearance of dampness after rain and will disappear over time from weathering. After 24 hours, remove any residual compound sticking to the surface by brushing diagonally across the joints with a stiff brush. Do not use the brush used to apply the compound, as this may contain polymers from the compound, which could stain. Full compound strength is achieved after 28 days, this process can take longer in cooler and wet weather. Do not use a power washer on the freshly applied compound for at least 28 days in good weather conditions. Maintenance: Clean, when necessary, by brushing then power washing (ensuring a minimum distance of 15cm between washer nozzle and surface, using a fan spray pattern, working across joint). Remove oil and grease immediately. The compound is resistant to most patio cleaning materials. However, do not use strong bleach, caustic soda, chlorine, solvents, or acid-based cleaners. Always test Bostik All Weather Jointing Compound on a small inconspicuous area and examine after 24 hours, before full application. Technical Data: Colour: Natural, grey & basalt Form: Moist, granular, non-flowing mass Specific gravity: 1.54 approx. Composition: A blend of polymers and sand Application temperature: 5°C to 30°C. Curing is very slow below this range, and too fast above it Drying times: Working time: 30 minutes Walk on time: 24 hours Load bearing: 6 days (at 20°C, depending on weather conditions and ambient temperatures. Low temperatures and/or wet weather will extend drying times) Compressive strength: Typically, 8.5N/mm² after 28 days Flexural strength: Typically, 4.3N/mm² after 28 days Product Datasheet Click here to view this product on the Manufacturers website.
