Description BAL Floor Epoxy Tile Grout is a three-part hygienic impervious epoxy resin tile grout for floors in dry or intermittent wet areas, for interior or exterior use with grout joints up to 20mm in width. It is designed for use in environments that require joints with high resistance to chemical attack, abrasion and impact. BAL Floor Epoxy Tile Grout is available in two BAL colours, Smoke and Ebony. Both are supplied in 10kg tubs, a tub comprises liquid resin, liquid hardener and powder filler. BAL Floor Epoxy Tile Grout is recommended for large installations including: Food preparation/ processing plants, swimming pools/ sports and leisure centres, shopping malls/ supermarkets, hospitals, and industrial/ chemical plants. For wall tiles use BAL ABSOLUTE GROUT. Surface Preparation: Before grouting, ensure that: Installed tiles are appropriate for the service conditions of the environment – and fixed on a solid-bed of adhesive. Tile adhesive has fully set, as indicated on adhesive packaging. Open joints are protected from contamination – and are clean, dry and free from loose debris. IMPORTANT NOTE: Ensure adequate ventilation – and do NOT use BAL Floor Epoxy Tile Grout in temperatures below 5°C or in damp conditions. If grouting externally, provide protection against inclement weather during grouting and for as long as possible afterwards. If grouting adjacent to food preparation areas, ensure physical segregation of work area before grouting. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do NOT use BAL Floor Epoxy Tile Grout in temperatures below 5°C or in damp conditions. If grouting porous tiles in temperatures above 25°C, dampen joints with clean water prior to grouting. If grouting externally, provide protection against inclement weather during grouting and for as long as possible afterwards. It is recommended that all external tiling applications include a DPM or a surface DPM can be applied prior to tiling (e.g. BAL DPM). Recommendations: Provide waterproof tanking protection for tiling background substrates (e.g. by using BAL TANK IT or BAL WATERPROOF 1C). Ensure tiles are fixed with a solid bed with a water-resistant adhesive (e.g. BAL FLEX ONE, BAL RAPID-FLEX ONE or BAL XL FLOOR ONE). Mixing: Before use, stir the hardener and stir the resin. Add all of hardener to all of resin in suitable clean container and mix thoroughly. NOTE: If using electric drill mixer, blend at slow speed (i.e. under 300rpm). Slowly add the filler and mix thoroughly until powder is dispersed and uniform colour achieved. Avoid entraining air by mixing at too high speed or by over-mixing. Some of the mixed BAL Floor Epoxy Tile Grout should be re-introduced back into the resin and hardener containers in order to remove any residue. Pour back into the original mixing container and re-mix for 30 seconds. Mixed BAL Floor Epoxy grout has a working time at 20°C of approx. 60 minutes. Application: Check potential staining risk especially when grouting quarry tiles and other tiles that are unglazed, matt-glazed or textured: apply grout to a few tiles in small trial area. If discolouration occurs or difficulties are encountered with cleaning off (surplus grout), apply BAL PROTECTIVE SEALER – and repeat trial. Use a stiffer mix to plug open-ended joints and prevent BAL Floor Epoxy Tile Grout from slumping. Recommendation: use a hard rubber float. Pour mixed grout onto tile surface. Working in small areas, completely fill tile joints and compact well, removing excess grout from tile surface as work proceeds. NOTE: Ensure that when installing in large areas that the grout is from the same batch to ensure consistency. Cleaning off: Must be carried out within 30 minutes of application. Clean off BAL Floor Epoxy Tile Grout using emulsifying pads. Use circular motion, keeping pad and gripper flat relative to surface to achieve flush joint.
